Sand Castle Milky Way
The Milky Way arching over a tufa tower at Mono Lake.
I feel like the Tufa's of Mono Lake look like Natures Sandcastles.
These tufa towers took decades or even centuries to build up from the bottom of the lake as water percolated up from springs and formed these structures. After the streams that feed the lake were diverted the lake levels dropped low enough that these structures were easy to see along the shore line.
The Eastern Sierra Nevada has some great dark sky's ( devoid of light pollution from large towns or cities ) and makes an awesome place to shoot the Milky Way. I thought these two subjects would match up well.
